National Voice Organizer outreach and support of voting projects is intended to enhance collaboration, reduce duplication, and create an opportunity for community participation and development. This includes locating or providing trainings for staff and volunteers, helping groups to secure funding for voting initiatives, and linking local efforts to local and state efforts.

Alyssa Burhans provides support for Native American Voter initiatives throughout the country and works closely with the Native Vote 2004 efforts from the National Congress of American Indians. This coordinated work is being done to ensure full support of and outreach to reservation and urban areas. Currently, National Voice is working with Native Voting efforts in Washington, Oregon, Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Montana, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.

Alyssa Burhans is a member of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, Oregon, and is completing a Masters in Public Policy at the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs. Alyssa brings a variety of skills to National Voice including working as a Legislative Assistant in the US House of Representatives, international advocacy, youth leadership development, and community organizing.

Crystal Wabnum, Native American Organizing Intern

Crystal Wabnum is a summer intern at National Voice. Her tribal background
is Kickapoo of Kansas, Prairie Band Potawatomie, and Western Band Cherokee.
Crystal is a student at Ft. Lewis College in Durango, Colorado, where she
majors in Sociology with an emphasis on penal reform.
